Installation instructions for the CCLINQ Magnetic License Plate Holder – quick, secure and without drilling
Instructions: Mounting the Magnetic License Plate Holder
Parts needed
- CCLINQ Magnetic license plate holder (set for front or rear)
- License plate
- Alcohol pad (for degreasing the surface)
- Cleaning cloth (e.g. microfiber cloth)
- Screws (optional, depending on vehicle and mounting type)
Step 1: Clean the surface
- Clean the area on the bumper where the magnets will be attached.
- Use the alcohol pad to remove grease and silicone residues.
- Then wipe the surface dry with the cloth.
Step 2: Attach magnets to the vehicle (glue or screw)
Option A – Gluing (without drilling):
- Peel off the protective film from the self-adhesive backing of the magnets.
- Position the magnets at the desired location for the license plate.
- Press each magnet firmly for approx. 20–30 seconds.
Option B – Screwing (optional):
- Position the magnets at the existing drill holes on the bumper.
- Fasten them with the included screws.
- Tighten the screws hand-tight (do not overtighten).
Step 3: Prepare and position counter-parts
- Place the counter-parts on the already mounted magnets on the vehicle.
→ They will automatically adhere in the exact correct position. - Now peel off the protective film from the self-adhesive backing of the counter-parts.
- Press the counter-parts firmly onto the back of the license plate.
Important:
First mount the magnet → then place the counter-part → then peel off the film.
This guarantees perfect alignment.
Step 4: Glue counter-parts to the license plate
- Press the counter-parts (which are already aligned on the magnets) firmly onto the back of the license plate.
- Hold each counter-part firmly with pressure for approx. 60 seconds so that the adhesive pad adheres optimally.
Step 5: Allow to cure (very important!)
- Do not move the license plate for 72 hours after applying it. During this time, the adhesive reaches its highest adhesive strength. Avoid car washes during this time.
Step 6: Attach license plate
- Hold the license plate in front of the bumper.
- The magnets will automatically pull the license plate into the correct position.
- Press the license plate lightly until it is securely seated.
Step 7: Remove license plate (important!)
❌ Never pull the license plate straight off!
✔ Always tilt it slightly first, then release it sideways.
This prevents unnecessarily high tensile force and protects the adhesive and magnets.
Notes & Safety
- Mounting only on smooth, clean surfaces
- At temperatures below 5 °C, warm the surface slightly before mounting
- Do not move the license plate for 72 hours after applying it. During this time, the adhesive reaches its highest adhesive strength. Avoid car washes during this time.
